Katie O’Hagan é uma artista que atua na área da dublagem, Mo-Cap, atuação, acrobacias e maquiagens! Ela também interpreta Mia Winters em Resident Evil 7: Biohazard! Começou a fazer acrobacias em um parque de diversões do Velho Oeste em Illinois. Mais tarde, ela se formou em shows, desfiles e encontros como a Rainha Má na Disneylândia.
Katie também gosta de fazer Yôga, realizar ensaios sensuais e curtir a natureza! Em suas redes sociais sempre é possível vê-la em meio a natureza se conectando com a vida selvagem!
Katie também gosta muito de interagir com os fãs de Resident Evil, e sempre está participando de entrevistas, lives, painéis e até mesmo em Gameplays de Resident Evil 7: Biohazard!
O EvilHazard, teve o prazer de fazer uma entrevista com Katie O’Hagan, onde ela falou um pouco sobre o processo de dublagem de Mia, falou sobre o processo de composição da personalidade da personagem, disse o que acha da relação de Mia & Ethan Winters e ainda deixou uma mensagem para todos os fãs! 1. É um prazer tê-la em nosso site. Como, quando e onde você estava quando foi chamada para fazer a captura de voz e movimentos de Mia Winters em Resident Evil 7: Biohazard?
KTO: Em 2014, vi uma chamada de elenco à procura de uma mulher da minha altura e olhar. Acabei fazendo um teste pessoal em um estúdio de captura de movimento. Eu primeiro testei para a versão maluca possuída (eles disseram originalmente que pensavam em provavelmente escalar 2 atores diferentes para a personagem). Mais tarde naquela noite eu recebi uma ligação para voltar e fazer um teste para a versão “normal” da personagem. Eu acho que um dia depois recebi a ligação e me ofereceram o papel de Mia, mas veja bem, não fazia ideia de que era para um jogo de Resident Evil.
2. Você já conhecia a franquia Resident Evil antes de interpretar Mia em Resident Evil 7? Você já jogou algum jogo na franquia?
KTO: Eu com certeza sabia sobre Resident Evil desde a infância. Eu me lembro vagamente de jogar o primeiro jogo quando estava no primário (da escola), mas nada depois disso. Eu também não sabia que aquele era o jogo do qual eu fazia parte, pelo menos não ainda.
3. Como foi o processo de dublagem de Mia?
KTO: Não houve um processo de dublagem em si. Já que eu estava fazendo o mo-cap, captura facial e voz, tudo estava ligado aos meus movimentos, boca e tudo. A maior parte da minha dublagem foi feita no palco com os outros atores. Nos 2 anos que eu trabalharia no jogo, eu seria chamada esporadicamente para fazer ADR (substituição automática do diálogo). Foi definitivamente um desafio trazer a mesma energia para as falas sozinha em uma cabine que eu havia feito anteriormente no set com outros atores. A dublagem é desafiadora, mas incrivelmente divertida!
4. O que você mais gostou em dar vida a Mia Winters? Dar a voz ou os movimentos?
KTO: Para mim é difícil separar as 2 coisas. Fiz quase tudo no ao mesmo tempo, então você não pode realmente ter um sem o outro quando se trata de mim e Mia. Eu tenho que dizer que foi muito alucinante ouvir minha voz e ver meu movimentos e expressões faciais, mas no rosto de outra pessoa. Tem que se acostumar.
5. Você jogou Resident Evil 7: Biohazard?
KTO: A resposta curta é Sim, mas não muito. A resposta longa é: o jogo foi lançado em 2017, e finalmente consegui começar a jogar em 2019 e recentemente tentei jogar no VR em 2021! Cheguei ao ponto de começar a me atacar! Eu gritei, joguei meu controle da TV e morri. Espero jogar novamente em breve e fazer melhor.
6. O que você pensa e acha sobre Mia Winters? Vocês têm algo em comum?
KTO: Acho que tenho sentimentos confusos por Mia. Ela é um pedaço de mim, então é claro que eu a amo, mas ela também era horrível! Quer dizer, pobre Ethan. Eu não acho que ela iria ganhar como esposa do ano ou qualquer coisa, seja aprendendo e crescendo ao longo dos jogos. Eu acho que se torna mais do que apenas sobre ela e seu erro (também conhecido como Eveline). Ela realmente quer salvar Ethan. Eu acho que o amor profundo e a força que ela no final das contas mostra, é algo que temos em comum.
7. O que Mia representa em sua carreira de atriz / dubladora / artista?
KTO: Mia valeu a pena anos de trabalho árduo e rejeição. Ela é a combinação de que todas as minhas vozes malucas, anos de teatro bobo e filmes independentes me ajudaram a construir e criar mais confiança para ser eu mesma e nas escolhas que eu fiz.
8. Você já deu voz a outro personagem de videogame ou personagem de filme antes? Ou Mia foi sua primeira experiência?
KTO: Mia foi minha primeira! E que ótima experiência foi. Eu basicamente tive que dar voz de duas personagens em um uma. Para mim foi um trabalho dos sonhos.
9. Como foi seu relacionamento com as outros dubladores de Resident Evil 7 durante os bastidores?
KTO: Eu só trabalhei com os atores americanos no set fazendo a captura de movimento e cenas. Todos foram maravilhosos e todos nos demos muito bem. Quero dizer nós trabalhamos neste jogo de 2015 até 2017 e agora em 2021 ainda estou em contato com alguns deles, eu até os chamaria de amigos. Foi a melhor experiencia, com atores incrivelmente talentosos e divertidos.
10. Uma questão polêmica; você acha que Mia realmente ama Ethan?
KTO: Em última análise, acho que sim, porque no final ela se sacrifica para salvar Ethan. Mas acho que antes de desaparecer ela amava mais seu trabalho. Parece que ela aprendeu o que realmente importava naquele tempo que ela estava perdida, protegendo aquele que ela amava. Você vê isso ao longo do jogo nas mensagens para ele, dizendo-lhe para ficar longe.
11. Qual é a sua frase favorita de Mia Winters?
KTO: Com certeza “Eu sei que você não queria me machucar, mas você não deveria ter feito isso. Doeu pra caralho!” (I know you didn’t mean to hurt me, but you shoudn’t have done that. It fucking hurt!). Tudo isso enquanto arrancava a mão do seu marido.
12. Se você fosse convidada a interpretar Mia em um filme de Resident Evil, você aceitaria?
KTO: Com certeza! Eu nem teria que pensar duas vezes. Eu amo essa personagem, essa mulher, e sua história.
13. Você interage muito com os fãs nas redes sociais. O que os fãs representam para você?
KTO: Os fãs representam o porque de me tornar atriz. Não para ter fãs, mas para criar coisas para entreter e fazer as pessoas felizes. Eu quero ser capaz de ajudar qualquer um que só quer se afastar de suas vidas, mesmo que por apenas um momento, e ficar à deriva em um mundo diferente. Sem os fãs nada disso seria possível.
14. Você ficou feliz em ver sua voz em Mia?
KTO: Foi surreal. Na verdade, eu estava em outro trabalho e teve um comercial de RE7 transmitido em uma TV. De repente, eu me ouvi e olhei para cima para ver Mia sendo arrastada para baixo da casa por Marguerite. Eu fiquei como uma criança tonta. Foi assim emocionante!
15. Você gostaria de fazer a voz de Mia Winters novamente em outro jogo?
KTO: Eu sei que já disse isso antes, mas sim, se eles voltarem e me pedirem para interpretá-la novamente eu ficaria muito honrada! Ela é uma parte de mim agora.
16. Você já veio ao Brasil? O que você sabe sobre nosso país?
KTO: Ainda não fui ao Brasil, é um sonho meu ir. Eu sou uma amante da natureza e selvagem, então eu tenho uma conexão com muitas pessoas no Brasil que estão lutando para manter a Amazônia protegida de perigos. Carnaval é um bom incentivo para visitar também!
17. Defina Mia com uma palavra.
KTO: Pesadelo.

1. It is a pleasure to have you on our website. How, when and where were you called to voice and motion capture Mia Winters in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard?
KTO: Back in 2014 I saw a casting call looking for a woman around my height and look. I ended up getting an in-person audition at a motion capture studio. I first auditioned for the possessed crazy version (they originally said they thought they would probably cast 2 different actors for the character). Later that night I got a call to come back and audition for the “normal” version of the character. I think a day later I got the call and was offered the role of Mia, but mind you I had no idea that it was for a Resident Evil game.
2. Did you already know the Resident Evil franchise before playing Mia in Resident Evil 7? Have you ever played a game in the franchise?
KTO: I definitely knew about Resident Evil from childhood. I vaguely remember playing the very 1st game when I was in grade school, but nothing after that. I also didn’t know that that was the game I was a part of, at least not yet.
3. How was Mia’s dubbing process?
KTO: There wasn’t a dubbing process per se. Since I was doing the mo-cap, facial capture, and voice, it was all linked to my movements, mouth and all. Most of my voice acting was done on the stage with the other actors. In the 2 years I worked on the game I would be brought in sporadically to do ADR (automated dialogue replacement). It was definitely a challenge bringing the same energy to the lines by myself in a booth that I had previously done on set with other actors. Voice acting is challenging but incredibly fun!
4. What did you like most about bringing Mia Winters to life? Give the voice or the movements?
KTO: For me it’s hard to separate the 2 things. I did almost everything at the same time, so you can’t really have one without the other when it comes to me and Mia. I do have to say it was pretty trippy hearing my voice and seeing my movements and facial expressions but on someone else’s face. Takes some getting use to.
5. Did you play Resident Evil 7: Biohazard?
KTO: The short answer is Yes, but not much of it. Longer answer is the game came out in 2017, I finally got to start to play it in 2019, and recently I attempted to play it in VR in 2021! Got as far as I start to attack myself! I screamed, threw my controller at the tv and was killed. Hope to play again soon and do better.
6. What do you think and think about Mia Winters? Do you have something in common?
KTO: I think I have mixed feelings for Mia. She’s a piece of me so of course I love her, but she also was horrible! I mean, poor Ethan. I don’t think she would win wife of the year or anything, be she does learn and grow throughout the game. I think it becomes more than just about her and her screw-up (aka Eveline). She truly wants to save Ethan. I think the deep love and strength she ultimately shows is something we have in common.
7. What does Mia represent in your acting / voice acting / artist career?
KTO: Mia is years of hard work and rejection being worth it. She was conformation that all my crazy voices, years of silly theater, and indie films helped me build and create more confidence to be myself and in the choices I make.
8. Have you ever voiced a video game or movie character before? Or was Mia your first experience?
KTO: Mia was my first! And what a great experience it was. I basically got to voice 2 characters in one. For me it was a dream job.
9. How was your relationship with the other dubbings of Resident Evil 7 during the backstage?
KTO: I only worked with the American actors on-set doing the motion capture and scenes. Everyone was wonderful and we all got along so well. I mean we worked on this game from 2015 till 2017 and now in 2021 I still am in contact with some of them, I would even call them friends. It was the best experience with incredibly talented and fun actors.
10. A controversial question; do you think Mia really loves Ethan?
KTO: Ultimately I think she does, because in the end she does sacrifice herself to save Ethan. But I think before she disappeared she loved her job more. It seems like she learned what really mattered in that time she was missing, protecting the one she loved. You see it throughout the game in the messages the left for him telling him to stay away.
11. What is your favorite Mia Winters quote?
KTO: Definitely “I know you didn’t mean to hurt me, but you shouldn’t have done that. It fucking hurt!” All while chainsawing my husband’s hand off.
12. If you were asked to play Mia in a Resident Evil movie, would you accept it?
KTO: Absolutely! I wouldn’t even have to think twice. I love this character, this woman, and her story.
13. You interact a lot with fans on social media. What do fans represent to you?
KTO: The fans represent why I became an actor. Not to have fans, but to create things to entertain and make people happy. I want to be able to help anyone who just wants to step away from their lives even if for just a moment and drift into a different world. Without the fans none of this would be possible.
14. Were you happy to see your voice on Mia?
KTO: It was surreal. I was actually at another job and a commercial for RE7 aired on a TV. All of a sudden I heard myself and looked up to see Mia being dragged under the house by Margaret. I was like a giddy little kid. It was so exciting!
15. Would you like to voice Mia Winters again in another game?
KTO: I know I’ve said this before but Yes, if they ever came back and asked me to voice her again I would be beyond honored! She’s a part of me now.
16. Have you ever come to Brazil? What do you know about our country?
KTO: I have not been to Brazil yet, it’s a dream of mine to go. I am a lover of nature and the wild so I feel a connection to so many people in Brazil who are fighting to keep the Amazon wild and safe from harm. Carnival is a nice incentive to visit too!
17. Define Mia with a word.
KTO: Nightmare.
