Jolene Andersen possui 40 anos atualmente, e seu primeiro trabalho foi em Resident Evil Damnation (no Brasil, Resident Evil Condenação) em 2012 interpretando Ada Wong nos movimentos. Em 2019 voltou a fazer os movimentos de Ada Wong, além de dublar a personagem. Jolene atuou em vários filmes e interpretou Shopia em Rise of the Tomb Raider.
O EvilHazard teve o prazer de fazer uma entrevista com Jolene Andersen, onde ela falou um pouco sobre o processo de dublagem de Ada, falou se toparia participar de um possível remake de Resident Evil 4 e ainda deixou uma mensagem para todos os fãs brasileiros! 1. Como surgiu a oportunidade de trabalhar no novo Resident Evil 2? Qual foi sua reação quando você descobriu que trabalharia em um projeto Resident Evil?
Eu vi uma chamada para o projeto e para a personagem. Esse é o aviso que os diretores de elenco publicam quando procuram talentos. Eu me dediquei ao papel – lembrando a eles que eu havia interpretado Ada anteriormente – e eles me trouxeram para uma audição. Eu fiz duas audições, ambas com Nick [Apostolides], e finalmente consegui o papel. Fiquei emocionada quando li o roteiro. Eu não sabia muito sobre o mundo de Resident Evil ou a arte de Ada nele – então foi muito emocionante para mim.
2. Você também ajudou a fazer Ada Wong em Resident Evil Damnation (Resident Evil Condenação)! Você se lembra como todo o processo foi realizado?
Para Damnation (Condenação), eu era apenas a atriz da captura de movimentos de Ada. Foi uma ótima maneira de conhecê-la! Filmamos o filme no Japão, com a equipe de lá … e foi uma experiência incrível. Na verdade, foi meu primeiro trabalho de captura de movimento – então a tecnologia e o processo eram muito novos para mim. Eu simplesmente adorei – esse trabalho começou toda a minha carreira de videogame.
3. Como sabemos, Ada Wong é uma personagem muito famosa e amada pelos fãs. Qual é o seu relacionamento com a comunidade de Resident Evil?
Eu amo que os fãs amem Ada tanto quanto eu. A comunidade de Resident Evil é fantástica, e eu não poderia estar mais feliz por fazer parte dela. Tenho a chance de entrar em contato com os fãs através de podcasts, entrevistas, histórias em quadrinhos … etc. É a melhor parte do meu trabalho!
4. Você gostaria de interpretar Ada Wong novamente em um possível remake de Resident Evil 4?
Meu maior desejo é repetir esse papel em RE4!
5. Qual é o seu relacionamento com Nick Apostolides (Leon S. Kennedy) e Stephanie Panisello (Claire Redfield)? Vocês já se conheciam antes do projeto RE2?
Eu não tinha conhecido Nick e Steph antes disso … mas somos bons amigos agora. Amo os dois!
6. Quais são as dificuldades que você enfrentou para interpretar Ada Wong no novo Resident Evil 2?
Eu não diria que houve alguma dificuldade. Adorei cada minuto. Eu também tenho uma equipe de pessoas incríveis no set comigo – me senti muito apoiada. Foi uma experiência fantástica por toda parte …
7. O que você acha de Ada Wong? Você acha que se parece com ela de alguma forma?
Eu amo Ada. Tudo nela – ela é uma personagem muito legal de interpretar … sexy, inteligente, capaz … quanto à aparência – às vezes meu cabelo se parece com o dela … Eu sou alta, com pernas longas e maçãs do rosto altas, mas é isso!
8. Você conhecia a franquia Resident Evil antes de Resident Evil Damnation (Resident Evil Condenação)?
Eu não conhecia. Foi tudo muito novo para mim. Mal posso lhe dizer o quanto estou agradecida por ter basicamente caído neste trabalho.
9. Você conheceu as outras dubladoras de Ada Wong? (Sally Cahill, Courtenay Taylor e Megan Hollingshead).
Eu não … e tomei cuidado para não tentar imitá-las, por isso não estou muito familiarizada com o trabalho delas.
10. Ada Wong também apareceu em um filme de Resident Evil em live-action, interpretada pela atriz Li Bingbing. Você já viu a atriz em cena? Se sim, o que você achou?
Eu não a conheço…
11. Conte-nos um pouco de como começou sua paixão pela dublagem e pelo Motion Capture.
Tudo começou com uma audição para Damnation (Condenação) – eu tinha amigos que estavam trabalhando no Motion Capture e nunca tinha ouvido falar. Quando vi um aviso do elenco procurando um ator de captura de movimento, eu me lancei. Eu nunca tinha ouvido falar da personagem, e eles não me revelaram o nome do projeto. Estava tudo muito protegido. Acabei reservada para o papel, fui ao Japão para filmar e o resto é história …
12. O que você não gosta no comportamento de Ada Wong?
Nada. Ela é perfeita. 🙂
13. Em Resident Evil Damnation (Resident Evil Condenação), os fãs viram Ada Wong dando cambalhotas e lutando artes marciais com a vilã Svetlana Belikova. É muito difícil para você realizar essas ações que envolvem brigas e acrobacias?
Eles contratam dublês para fazer essas ações mais complicadas … Eu apenas faço o básico. A equipe de dublês é incrível e não recebeu o crédito suficiente.
14. Você jogou o novo Resident Evil 2? Se sim, o que você achou do jogo?
Eu nunca jogue ele! Não jogo videogame desde o Atari …
15. Você já veio ao Brasil ou deseja visitar o país em algum momento?
Eu adoraria mais do que nunca visitar o Brasil. Sempre esteve na minha lista – eu amo a língua, a música, a comida … todo mundo que eu já conheci do Brasil … talvez depois da pandemia … 🙂 Sem brincadeira – enquanto eu digito isso … Estou ouvindo Vanessa Da Mata, “Não Me Deixe Só”! Haha!

1. How did the opportunity to work on the new Resident Evil 2 come about? What was your reaction when you discovered what is the treatment for Resident Evil?
I saw a ‘breakdown’ for the project and the character. That is the casting notice that casting directors publish when looking for talent. I pitched myself for the role – reminding them that I had played Ada previously…and they brought me in for an audition. I had 2 auditions, both with Nick, and eventually landed the role. I was thrilled when I read the script. I hadn’t previously known much about the Resident Evil world, or Ada’s art in it – so it was very exciting for me.
2. You also helped move Ada Wong into Resident Evil Damnation! Do you remember how the whole process was carried out?
For Damnation I was only the motion capture actor for Ada. It was a great way to get to know her! We shot the film in Japan, with the crew there…and it was an amazing experience. It was actually my first motion capture job – so the technology and the process was very new to me. I absolutely loved it – that job started my entire video game career.
3. As we know, Ada Wong is a very famous character and loved by fans. What is your relationship with the Resident Evil community?
I love that the fans love Ada as much as I do. The Resident Evil community is fantastic, and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it. I get a chance to reach out to the fans via podcasts, interviews, comic cons…etc. It’s the best part of my job!
4. Would you like to perform Ada Wong again in a possible Resident Evil 4 remake?
My greatest wish is to reprise this role for RE4!!
5- What is your relationship with Nick Apostolides (Leon S. Kennedy) and Stephanie Panisello (Claire Redfield)? Have you met them before the RE2 project?
I hadn’t met Nick and Steph before this…but we are good friends now. Love them both!
6. What are the difficulties you faced to play Ada Wong in the new Resident Evil 2?
. I wouldn’t say there were any difficulties. Loved every minute of it. I also have a team of amazing people on set with me – I felt very supported. It was a fantastic experience all around…
7. What do you think of Ada Wong? Do you think you look like her in any way?
I love Ada. Everything about her – she is a very cool character to play…sexy, smart, capable…as for her looks – sometimes my hair looks like hers…I am tall with long legs and high cheekbones, but that’s about it!
8. Did you know Resident Evil franchise before Resident Evil Damnation?
I didn’t. It was all very new to me. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to have basically fallen into it.
9. Do you know other Ada Wong voice actress? (Sally Cahill, Courtenay Taylor and Megan Hollingshead).
I don’t…and I was careful not to try to emulate them, so I’m not very familiar with their work.
10. Ada Wong also appears in other live-action Resident Evil films, played by actress Li Bingbing. Did you ever see the actress’s perform? If so, what did you think?
I have not…
11. Tell us a little about your passion for publishing and how your Motion Capture’s work started.
It all started with an audition for Damnation – I had friends that were working in Motion Capture and I had never heard of it. When I saw a casting notice for a motion capture actor, I pitched myself. I had never heard of the character, and they don’t reveal the name of the project. It is all very protected. I eventually booked the role, went to Japan to shoot it and the rest is history…
12. What do you dislike about Ada Wong’s behavior?
Nothing. She is perfect. 🙂
13. In Resident Evil Damnation, fans saw Ada Wong somersaulting and fighting martial arts with villain Svetlana Belikova. Is it very difficult for you to do these actions involving fights and acrobatics?
They hire stunt people to do those more complicated moves…I just do the basics. The stunt team is amazing and do not get enough credit.
14. Did you play the new Resident Evil 2 ? If so, what did you think of the game?
I have never played it! I haven’t played a video game since Atari…
15. Have you ever come to Brazil or do you want to visit the country sometime?
I would love nothing more than to visit Brazil. It’s always been on my list – I love the language, the music, the food…everyone I’ve ever met from Brazil…perhaps after the pandemic…:) No kidding – as I type this…I’m listening to Vanessa De Mata, “Não Me Deixe Só”! Haha!
